Season 1 Complete!

WOO-HOO!

MOROCHEY has finished its first eight-chapter "Season"!! It's taken almost a year to get to this point, with once-a-week updates and surprise hiatus..es? Hiatii? ...slowing things down in the beginning, but the next goal should be met much faster.

I hope you've enjoyed what we've got so far! The story continues on Saturday. In the meantime, please help pimp my comic spread the word, and give us a share on facebook, twitter, or whatever else. All is greatly appreciated!

Missing Pieces

I was debating whether to reveal so soon that the sister had been drafted. I was originally going to say she "Got a job" and didn't tell anymore than that, and leave it until later to discover what happened. However, I felt like that raised more questions than it should. Why does nobody miss her presence? Why does Skye not look for her? The more I looked at it, the more it felt like a gaping plot hole than a mystery, so there we have it.

Meanwhile, between the memory loss and the drafting of an ex-Warrior after The Wars are supposed to be long over, Jake is quick to read conspiracy between the lines.

Doors and Loopholes

The question of what's behind that second door at HQ has been kicking around in Jake's head since he learned Skye had been behind it. Curiosity killed the cat...  but it TORTURED the scientist!

Meanwhile, Sandy has found her loophole in the form of challenges to contestants. Will it work? How much of a long shot is it? Is it a trap? Good questions for a later time..

Funny story about this comic..  I completed it, beginning-to-end, on what I THOUGHT was Friday..................  then, I realized it was Saturday. Phail or win? Hard to say..  either way, it turned out much better than the last comic page I finished in a single day.

Light 'er Up

The barbecue section of this comic is brought to you by every 4th of July of my life since I was old enough to touch a lighter. Flick-lighters and I have a less than stellar relationship...  and the idea of Pyro having the same sort of trouble was too ironic to pass up.

It's been mentioned on the characters page that Pyro was talented for his age, and hinted that his specialty was fire, but this is the first time it's spelled out that he was pretty bad@$$ as a fire elemental. He also reminds us of how acutely Ex-Morochey feel the loss of their powers...  although in a way quite a bit different from his sister's.

And, in case you're wondering, listing one's clan associations while mocking their abilities is a "thing" in the MOROCHEY'verse. Whether in jest, or  dead serious, it's basically like saying "You suck, and your clan should be embarrassed of you". Sunny sentiment, right?

What the..  She can LAUGH?

Don't worry, the details of exactly when and how Eva was able to transform, and escape the clutches of their attacker will be explained later. For now, I wanted to lighten the mood. And besides, I find it amusing how when Eva and Darius do actually get to interacting, they revert back to being petty twelve-year-olds; whether it's an annoyed greeting to your long-lost friend, or downright bickering in the face of danger.

With the action in the canyon at a reasonable settling point, we get to check back with the rest of the crew, and get a peep at their travelling setup. Something else I find amusing..  considering they're living, at the moment, IN A VAN, DOWN BY THE RIVER. Well..  the lake...  but yeah.
